Payroll giving

    • Payroll

What is payroll giving (or Give as you earn)?

You can help to support people living with spina bifida and hydrocephalus by making regular contributions through your payroll.

Not only is it simple to set up but it’s also the most tax effective way you can give because your donation is deducted from your salary before you pay tax.

For every £1 that you want to give it will only cost you 80p (only 60p if you are a higher rate tax payer) the taxman will pay the rest! So, if you want to give £5 per month, only £4 will come out of your salary, the rest will be paid by the taxman. If you pay higher rate tax, then £3 would come out of your salary, and the rest from the taxman. Payroll giving costs you less to give more.

There is no set amount, you can give however much you’d like; it’s entirely up to you. You can also change the amount you give or stop donating at any time should your circumstances change.

How you will be helping

Knowing that Shine can rely on your support through Payroll Giving allows us to budget and make plans for the future as we develop our existing services. Spina bifida and hydrocephalus are life-long conditions, and Shine supports individuals, families and carers from pre-conception, right through child and adulthood. You will be helping us to provide vital, support, advice and information to those who need our support.

If you gave us just £5 per month for 1 year, it would pay for 2 home visits to a family from their local Shine Support and Development Worker. Just one visit from someone who really understands can make a world of difference to a family.

What if my employer doesn’t offer Payroll Giving?

Most companies do offer this facility, but if yours doesn’t, either ask someone in HR or your payroll department if they will look at starting up a scheme, or contact us and we would be happy to speak to them on your behalf.

What do I need to do?

Simply fill in our online payroll giving form and we will do the rest. If you’d like more information about payroll giving, or would prefer a hard copy form to complete, please contact a member of our Fundraising Team.
