Alongside Shine's Clinician-led Health Team, we have a network of regionally based Support Workers, assisting Shine members with social and practical issues, such as managing finances, applying for financial support, accessing education and employment, building relationships with essential social and healthcare services and securing appropriate accommodation.
Our Support Workers can help our members secure the right benefits, request training and support in schools and workplaces, and specify adaptations they need in their living and healthcare situations. Shine's frontline staff have the knowledge (and the perseverance) to help our members get the right support and work with them to gain confidence, knowledge and backing to secure this for it themselves.
Between November 2024 and November 2025, Shine resolved 700+ financial enquiries, 600+ support requests around education and employment and 300+ enquiries around mobility, accommodation and care provision.
500+ children had improved access to their education, 80+ adults secured improved access to employment and more than 1,800 people told us they had better access to the care and support they needed thanks to contact with Shine.
