Are you a Shine member aged between 13 to 17?
Join us as we explore how to prepare for exams, from managing stress to revision techniques and finding the right support to help you do your best.
You’ll also have the chance to hear from other young people who’ve recently sat their exams, sharing their top tips, experiences, and advice on what helped them succeed.
“Since joining the Shine sessions, I feel like I have found people that get it, and understand what I’m going through for the first time.”
This code of conduct outlines the expectations for everyone involved in our youth online sessions and how to make sure you and others stay safe online. For anybody under the age of 16, we will ask that a parent or guardian is present in the room when they take part in the Online session. They do not need to appear on screen.
Be Kind and Respectful: Treat others with kindness and consideration, respecting their ideas and feelings. Everyone may have different opinions. It is important to listen and avoid arguing or belittling others for their views. Always be kind to staff members too.
Be friendly: When joining discussions or commenting in the chat, be nice to other young people. Bullying and bad language is not allowed in the groups and may mean you can't be part of the group anymore.
Be mindful of time: Arrive on time when possible. If you need to leave early or cannot attend, inform the staff before the session starts.
Stay Safe
Use only your first name on Online (Zoom): Please display only your first name during the sessions. Avoid sharing your surname for privacy and safety reasons.
Keep personal information private: Never share personal details like your phone number, social media accounts, or email address during the Online meetings. Your safety is important.
Tell your parents: Always let your parents know about any Online meetings you attend. It's important to keep them informed and involved in what you're doing.
Report disrespectful or offensive behaviour: If you experience any disrespectful or offensive behaviour, please inform a staff member right away. They will handle the situation appropriately and ensure your well-being.
How to behave when online: Use appropriate online behaviour during the Online meetings. This includes refraining from spamming, sharing inappropriate content, or engaging in disruptive activities that may distract or disturb others.
Please dress appropriately: Make sure you are fully dressed and wearing appropriate clothes for the session.
Sharing Information
Your information is kept private: The things you share with us are confidential and won't be shared with others. However, if you share something that may harm you or someone else, we might need to tell the right person. If possible, we'll talk to you about it first. But if we can't reach you, we'll decide who needs to know to keep everyone safe.
Respect others' personal stories: Sometimes, people may share personal stories during the Online meetings. It's important that you keep these stories to yourself and not share them with anyone outside of the session. Respecting their privacy is crucial.
Respect other people’s privacy: You are not allowed to take pictures, screenshot, save chats, or record the Inline sessions. Only Shine Staff can do this, and they will tell you if they are. You can choose not to be recorded.
Chat is saved securely: Remember that anything you write in chat messages during Online meetings are saved securely by Online and Shine.
