Twenty miles, tremendous lake-side walking and totally fabulous Lake District views make up this guided challenge walk.

This fabulous guided trek will take you from Glenridding on a circular route around the lake. You’ll enjoy exceptional, jaw dropping scenery as you walk along – taking in Pooley Bridge; Maiden Castle, which is now just a grassy knoll but provides a fantastic vantage point to look right along the Ullswater Valley; the spectacular Aira Force, a 65-foot waterfall; the Glencoyne Deer Park, the place where William Wordsworth saw a huge swathe of daffodils on the lake shore that inspired him to write his famous poem and more.

You can soak up the superb vistas and contrasting scenery of craggy outcrops, parkland, woodland, moors and lots of water whilst you enjoy the company of fellow walkers and while a Large Outdoors guide takes care of the navigation around the Lake District’s second largest lake.

While it’s certainly a challenge to do all 20 miles in one day, the route’s relatively low level and gentler terrain compared to our other UK treks. The walking surfaces vary with some grassy paths, gravel tracks and some steeper stone paths. However, a challenge it is indeed and one that will take most groups 10-12 hours.

Once completed, there are a handful of pubs in Glenridding to perhaps join your fellow participants and go for a celebratory drink or meal to celebrate the day’s achievement of completing the Ullswater Way.
