Shine has welcomed Mark Kerr as its new Marketing & Communications Manager.

Mark joins the charity from Peterborough City Council, where he's worked for the past four years delivering record breaking campaigns to recruit new foster carers and adopters for the city's most vulnerable children.

Passionate about the wellbeing of young people and families, Mark has worked extensively within children's services to develop a range of strategies to recruit and retain social work professionals, and with special educational needs and disability specialists in promoting Peterborough’s 'Local Offer', an online directory of support and services available to individuals with additional needs.

Excited to join Shine, Mark said, "Working for an organisation which does such valuable work is an incredible opportunity, and I'm looking forward to working closely with our members to build upon an outstanding reputation and deliver a service which raises aspirations, improves outcomes and changes lives".

When he's not in the office, Mark loves to be with his wife and two young sons who he says "inspire him to make the world a better place". In his limited spare time, he enjoys stand-up comedy, eating out and managing the Peterborough Royals, the city's first and only women's American Football team.

Mark is joining Shine at a crucial time. The charity will unfold bold plans later this Spring to increase its support for people with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, in an ever challenging world of services and benefit cuts and changes that are having a particularly negative impact on people with disability.

To get in touch, Mark can be contacted on 01733 421362, email  or via Facebook.
