How Bryn is boosting benefits for a great cause…

    • Bryn Roberts

Shine is delighted to announce that Bryn Roberts has been appointed as its National Lead Disability Benefits Development Worker.

Bryn will be overseeing Shine’s newly launched Disability Benefits Advisory Service, and will be available to support Shine members and services staff dealing with more complex benefits related issues. The role has a significant developmental remit around all of Shine’s work and services in relation to benefits, including reviewing and developing the charity’s benefits information, organising events, and representing Shine on the Disability Benefits Consortium and other consultations.

Bryn, who is based in Holyhead on the Isle of Anglesey, will be well known to many Shine members, having worked for Shine since 2008 as the Support and Development Worker in North Wales, a work he will be continuing on a part-time basis. Bryn formerly worked for Anglesey Social Services and brings much experience in the welfare rights and benefits field in both the statutory and voluntary sectors. Bryn also has personal experience of spina bifida and initially attended a local school for children with physical and cognitive needs before moving on to study at Hereward College in Coventry.

Bryn says: “I enjoy the variety of the work I do to support our members to meet their needs and ambitions, and am looking forward to taking the lead in this new disability benefits role.”

To relax amid his busy schedule, Bryn enjoys music, bird watching and horology.
