Volunteers' Week - Celebrating Paul

1st June 2021

As part of National Volunteers' Week, we're celebrating some of the wonderful people who've supported Shine over the years. From Ambassadors to Fundraisers, Peer Supporters to Trustees, all playing a part in making sure Shine supports its members of all ages.

Meet Paul, an Ambassador and Trustee for Shine:

Paul has been an Ambassador and Trustee for Shine for 15 years. He said he likes to volunteer for Shine as it is a charity close to his heart due to having Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.

"I like to give back some support that Shine has given me over the years."

He has been involved with Shine for over 20 years in a number of roles: Nominee member, YV chair, SAMC chair, Trustee and Ambassador representing Shine at 3rd Sector meetings local to him.

Being a Shine Ambassador is being the friendly face of Shine in your local community. It’s an exciting and varied role that can include; representing Shine at community events and presentations, organising fundraising events in aid of the Shine, raising awareness of the work we do and the campaigns we run, and sharing Shine information in your local community.

Being a Shine Trustee is a hugely rewarding opportunity and plays a key role in the functioning and success of the charity. Our trustees are a group of people that are passionate about developing ideas, activities, and policy priorities that will help us to achieve our goals.
