In an inspiring display of determination and community spirit, Bronwen, a physiotherapist here at Shine, is gearing up to face one of her most significant challenges yet — the London Marathon!
After years of anticipation, Bronwen has secured a place in the prestigious race, choosing to raise funds for Shine. Here's Bronwen's story in her own words:
"I was lucky enough to get a ballot place finally after years of trying and of course there was no question that I would try to raise a little for Shine.
I love working with the families and members of Shine alongside such a fantastic team of staff.
Being supported by Shine to explore innovative therapy treatments like non- invasive spinal electrical stimulation has been so rewarding and a highlight of my 20 plus year career so to be able to give back a little and acknowledge just how incredible both the members and the organisation is, is great fun for me.
Regarding the Marathon itself, I have no idea how it's going to go. I did it in 2006 when I was much fitter, lighter and without children and a husband demanding my attention!! I am struggling with an injury so we'll see how it goes but if I can walk to complete it I will!"
You don't need to run a marathon to help us! If you're inspired by Bronwen, consider making a difference in one of the following ways:
Sponsor Bronwen’s Marathon Mission:Every contribution, no matter how small, significantly furthers Shine's cause. To make a donation and back Bronwen's effort, please visit her JustGiving page and sponsor her here.
Make Your Own Impact: Perhaps a bake sale is more your style, or perhaps organising a non-uniform day... there are lots of ways you can help Shine with any fundraising activity. Here are some ideas as inspiration.
Share Our Message: Help us spread the word about Bronwen's London Marathon run and her dedication to raising funds for Shine. Share her story and JustGiving page with your friends, family, and network.
Our collective support makes a huge difference for individuals and families navigating life with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.
Thank you Bronwen! We will be cheering you on all the way!
