Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus Awareness Week 2024 - Save the Date!

15th April 2024

From 13th - 19th May this year we will be having our first Awareness Week just for Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), separate from Hydrocephalus Awareness Week. This allows us to spotlight your specific challenges and experiences, and lead a more focused awareness campaign, as well as providing you with the most useful information possible.

Keep an eye on the Events page of our website and our social media to get involved.

At Shine we believe in the power of shared experiences

We would like to invite you to add your story to our Shine Voices video library. Shine Voices is a collection of videos of members talking openly about their lives and conditions. So far, we haven't had any videos from people with NPH or their carers and we want to change that! Sharing your Shine Voices videos in advance of NPH Awareness Week is a way help us produce an impactful NPH campaign.

Your experiences of life with NPH can help others facing similar challenges. Your videos will resonate with others diagnosed with NPH, offering comfort and a sense of community. You could even share practical tips for daily life to help others. It can be as simple or as detailed as you feel comfortable with, and it will be a powerful way to make a positive impact.

Your videos will raise awareness of NPH symptoms, helping people recognise them in themselves and others, possibly leading to earlier diagnosis and treatment. Videos are also powerful educational tools that can help healthcare professionals to understand what it's like to live with NPH, so they can understand and support people with NPH better.

Tips for filming

Some tips for filming can be found here. Once you’ve recorded your video you’ll need to complete a consent form then send your video via WeTransfer to marketing@shinecharity.org.uk.

Thank you for considering this invitation, and we look forward to seeing you getting involved during NPH Awareness Week, and to the possibility of adding your unique perspective to our Shine Voices library. More information will follow soon about our plans!
