Volunteers' Week - Celebrating Val

4th June 2017

As part of National Volunteers' Week we're celebrating some of the wonderful people who've supported Shine over the years by giving their time, skills or expertise to fundraise, plan and staff events or even contribute to the ongoing development of the charity.

First up is Val, a long time Shine volunteer based in Wales.

Name: Val Conway

From: Llandudno, North Wales

Connection to Shine: Val’s daughter, Susie, had spina bifida.

How long you have been volunteering:

Val has been volunteering for Shine for more than 50 years in a variety of different ways including her annual Susie Sunshine Walk along Llandudno Promenade and before this Val organised pram races for Shine.

What you have been doing as a volunteer:

Val has been organising fundraising events for Shine and helping to raise awareness of the charity and spina bifida in her local area.
