Make it virtual

When you can’t be with your friends and family, one way to feel connected is by holding a virtual event.

Whether a quiz, games night, kitchen disco or coffee morning, set up a video call, and invite your friends and family to come along in return for a donation to Shine.

You can use any video messaging service you like. A few options include such as Zoom, Facebook messenger and Whatsapp.

To boost your fundraising total, you could include popular party games - higher or lower and charades work just as well virtually as in person - or hold a competition, rewarding the best fancy dress costume or most fabulous outfit

Get baking

Cake for a cause? Now that's a diet we can get behind!

Whether you're baking it or buying it, a bake sale is a fantastic way to raise funds for Shine. Get your friends together, get your children’s school involved, ask your work colleagues, or just have a few friends around for dessert and do-gooding. It couldn't be easier, or more delicious!

It’s party time!

Everyone enjoys a party and you can hold a party at any time of year, to celebrate an anniversary, achievement or just to have fun.

What about an elegant cocktail party? A pizza and popcorn party? A special celebration?

Hold a Party for Shine and you'll be helping individuals and families affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus to get the vital support they need.

Need nibbles ideas? Why not check out our Shine Cookbook? There's a rumour going around that all the recipes are calorie-free... (*Psst* the cookbook makes an excellent present!)

Did you know there's a special Shine cocktail, made especially for us by the lovely people at The Lighthouse Pub in Oxford. Contact the fundraising team for the recipe!

Shine Bright Quiz

The Shine Bright Quiz is the perfect combination of ready-made fun and fundraising!

We’ve made it really easy by providing everything you need to run your own quiz. You could host it online, in the local pub, a local hall, at home, at work, or wherever you like.

We recommend setting a minimum donation per person. You can also boost your fundraising by adding a meal (and charging more!), holding a raffle or tombola, or perhaps selling cakes and sweets.

You could also offer a token prize for the winning team, to encourage more participants to join in.

The Shine Bright Quiz is available as a pdf which we will send you.

Complete this form to access our Fundraising Hub which contains lots of materials for you to download, including the Shine Bright Quiz.

Get in touch if you need any more information or advice.
