Let's get started!

If you have spina bifida or hydrocephalus, or care for someone who does, Shine Voices is the chance to tell the world your story.   For inspiration, why not check out the other videos our members have made, or, if you're ready to create your own, just follow the simple steps below to create and upload your content, and we'll do the rest.

Step one - Top tips for filming

If you haven't already, make sure you check out our top tips video.

Once you're ready to start, download this handy reminder to keep by your side.

Step two - Giving your consent:

Before we can upload your video to the Shine Voices library, you'll need to give us consent to do so.

We'll need consent from anyone who appears in your film - if they are under 18 years old, their parents will need to sign the form to give consent on their behalf.

The form includes space to add several people so you don't need to fill out one for each person in your film.

Click here to fill out a consent form

When you click submit, it will be sent to us automatically, there's no need to email a copy - if you have any difficulty filling out the form, please let us know

Step three - Uploading your video

You can send us your videos using WeTransfer - an industry leading file sharing service which allows you to send large files, securely.

You will be asked to type in an email address to send your file to - to make sure it gets to the right place, please use voices@shinecharity.org.uk

Visit www.wetransfer.com and follow the steps below to upload your video.

You can add more than one video, as well as extra files such as your consent form to the transfer so that we receive everything in one simple message.

Optional extras

Your video doesn't just have to be you talking.

To make your film even more interesting, you could record extra footage of whatever it is you are talking about, examples could include:

  • If talking about a hobby, you could ask someone to film you practising
  • If talking about your job, you could film to show where you work
  • If talking about your children, you could film them playing

Or, if you have any photographs which are about your story - if talking about your youth, you may want to include photographs of when you were younger - you can include those too.

You don't have to do any clever editing, just add any extra files to your wetransfer upload and we will take care of the rest.
