We are very grateful that Hydrocephalus Awareness Week 2024 is sponsored by Codman. As part of the build-up to the week, we were delighted to have three Shine members join Codman staff at their team meeting to share their personal experiences of having a shunt fitted and what life is like living with Hydrocephalus.
The Codman staff said it was ‘a real privilege to hear [their} stories’. Our members felt it was a great opportunity to meet the manufacturers of the shunts they had received. David said “It was great to hear from Codman directly about how the shunts worked and their future developments - It was also great to hear other Shine members experiences, especially being diagnosed later in life and getting back to work after a period of recovery. “
#LivingWithHydrocephalus is a campaign to both celebrate and educate.
The condition means many different things to many different people - but it doesn’t define them, and we’re appealing to members to show that by sharing a photograph which gives a glimpse into the real lives of the Hydrocephalus community.
It could be something memorable or mundane, something fantastic or that frustrates you.
Together, your photos will show the world what life really looks like for people with Hydrocephalus and help to change misconceptions.
You can send your photo to us by emailing marketing@shinecharity.org.uk (make sure to include a brief explanation) or you can post your image to social media during Hydrocephalus Awareness Week* using the hashtag #LivingWithHydrocephalus.
