We’re here to help you improve the lives of people affected by neural tube defects such as spina bifida, and hydrocephalus and related conditions.
With the aid of our newly developed e-learning modules, Shine is aiming to reach and upskill more health, care, education, and other professionals to better understand conditions such as Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, and improve support through prevention and changes in their approaches and practices.
Any professional will be able to access our free online learning modules that are accredited for continuous professional development (CPD).
Courses available now for healthcare professionals include: Spina Bifida; Hydrocephalus; Closed Spinal Dysraphisms and Spina Bifida Occulta; Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus; and Neural Tube Defects – antenatal e-learning. Videos of our 2021 professionals conference "Spina bifida: pre-conception to adulthood" are also available in a CPD accredited module.
We work with a wide range of professionals to help achieve better services and standards for people with spina bifida, hydrocephalus, normal pressure hydrocephalus, and encephalocele.
We also work with people and organisations involved in parent/carer support, including support for families affected by anencephaly. In addition to working with those involved in more direct forms support, we also engage and assist research professionals.
We can provide resources, answer questions, and assist with signposting. We can also help with research recruitment and support, and can contribute to your continuing professional development. We invite you to explore our professional pages, and to sign up as a member to access more information and support.
Our support line is for professionals too – contact us via 01733 555988 or by emailing firstcontact@shinecharity.org.uk and we will refer you to the appropriate member of our team to assist you.
